On the morning of September 9, 2025, the historic Cambodian Techo International Airport, located in Kandal Province and partly in Takeo Province, costing approximately US$1,500 million, which is a new gateway connecting Cambodia to the world, began receiving flights.
The first flight to land at the new airport, the national airline Air Cambodia (K6 611) carrying tourists from China, was welcomed by Dr. Mao Havannal, Minister in Charge of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, and Minister of Tourism, Mr. Huot Hak, who sprayed water on the plane, played chai yam, laid wreaths, and distributed souvenirs to passengers.
